The inaugural edition of the SNU CUP State Level Inter-Collegiate Cricket Tournament concluded on a thrilling note on March 27th, marking the culmination of an incredible journey filled with passion, dedication, and exceptional sportsmanship.
This year, we were privileged to host 12 formidable teams, each representing the crème de la crème of cricketing talent from various colleges across the state. The competition was fierce from the very first ball, with each match showcasing the sheer skill and unwavering determination of these young athletes.
The tournament format employed a League-Knockout structure, divided into four pools. The initial rounds were a thrilling spectacle, with neck-and-neck battles that kept everyone on the edge of their seats. Witnessing these young talents strategize, execute, and push their limits was a testament to the immense potential they hold.
The grand finale, held on March 27th, saw a star-studded presence with Mr. Venkataramana, a former Indian cricketer and the current head coach of the Kerala Ranji Senior team, gracing the valedictory function as the chief guest. The final match itself was a nail-biting affair, with REC and SSN College going head-to-head. Ultimately, SSN College emerged victorious, clinching the championship by a convincing margin of 7 wickets.
Throughout the tournament, one player consistently stole the show – Mohana Kumar of SSN College. His exceptional performance earned him the well-deserved title of “Man of the Tournament.” Mohana Kumar’s dominance was undeniable, as he not only smashed two brilliant fifties with the bat but also displayed his bowling prowess by bagging a remarkable 9 wickets.
