Shiv Nadar Foundation Scholarship Day 2025 was held at the Justice Pratap Singh Auditorium, celebrating academic excellence and recognising meritorious students across SSN Institutions and Shiv Nadar University Chennai (SNUC). The event reaffirmed the Foundation’s enduring commitment to supporting deserving students and enabling access to quality education through sustained and inclusive scholarship initiatives.
The programme commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Radha S, Principal, SSN College of Engineering. This was followed by an address from Dr. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya, Vice Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University Chennai, who outlined the genesis and vision of the Shiv Nadar Foundation Scholarship Scheme.
At Shiv Nadar University Chennai, scholarships are viewed not merely as financial assistance but as a long-term investment in students with potential and promise.
The Foundation offers a wide range of scholarships designed to recognise excellence and support holistic development. Merit Scholarships are awarded based on outstanding performance in the Shiv Nadar University Chennai Entrance Examination (SNUCEE) or exceptional academic achievement in the preceding year for senior students. The distinctive “Walk-in–Walk-out” Scholarship provides a full tuition fee waiver for the entire programme duration to top rank holders of State and Central Boards, subject to the maintenance of academic standards.
Recognising that merit is often constrained by means, the Merit-cum-Means Scholarship supports academically strong students from economically disadvantaged backgrounds, including significant tuition fee waivers for first-generation learners. In addition, Sports Scholarships are awarded to students with exceptional achievements at national and international levels, reinforcing the University’s commitment to holistic, all-round development.
The Foundation’s commitment to educational equity is further strengthened through the Vidyagyan Scholarship Initiative, which now includes its third school in Chennai after Sitapur and Bulandshahr. Vidyagyan offers 100% free, world-class K–12 education to meritorious students from underserved communities.
This year’s Scholarship Day carried added significance with the presence of Professor J. Ramachandran, Chairman of Redington Limited and one of India’s most respected thinkers in strategy and corporate governance, as the Chief Guest. Senior leadership from the Shiv Nadar Foundation, SSN Institutions and Shiv Nadar University Chennai graced the occasion, including Mr. R. Srinivasan, Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University Chennai; Mr. Sundar Mahalingam, President – Strategy, Shiv Nadar Foundation and HCL Group, and Chairman of the SSN Management Committee; Dr. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya, Vice Chancellor, Shiv Nadar University Chennai; Dr. N. Nallusamy, Registrar, Shiv Nadar University Chennai; and Dr. Radha S, Principal, SSN College of Engineering.
Addressing the gathering, Professor Ramachandran shared insights on leadership, perseverance, and the importance of giving back to society, following which scholarships were formally presented to the recipients.
The programme also featured special addresses by distinguished alumni Mr. Shanmuga Sundaram, Founder & CEO, Optimum Products & Services LLC, USA, and Mr. Pradeep Kumar, Founder & CEO, Stan Ventures, Bengaluru. Their interactions offered students valuable real-world perspectives and inspiring entrepreneurial journeys. Scholarship recipients also shared their experiences, expressing gratitude and reflecting on the transformative impact of the initiative.
The event concluded with a Vote of Thanks delivered by Dr. N. Nallusamy, Registrar, Shiv Nadar University Chennai. The ceremony stood as a reaffirmation of the University’s and the Foundation’s commitment to inclusive education—ensuring that talent, determination, and merit are never limited by financial circumstances.
