
Prof. Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya bags the NASI Fellowship
Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, Chennai, Prof Sriman Kumar Bhattacharyya has been recently elected as the Fellow of the National Academy of Sciences India (NASI) 2021.
Prof Bhattacharyya is a widely acclaimed academician and was previously the Director (officiating) as well as Deputy Director at IIT Kharagpur. He had also been the Director of Council of Scientific & Industrial Research (CSIR) – Central Building Research Institute (CBRI) in Roorkee. Now, he is the Founding Vice-Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University, Chennai.
Prof. Bhattacharyya is an expert in the
fields of Sustainable Building Material, Fluid-Structure Interactions,
Structural Health Monitoring, FRP-Concrete composite systems, Structural
Restoration and Numerical Modelling; Structural Fire Engineering. He received
his M.Tech and Ph.D. degree from the Department of Civil Engineering of IIT
Kharagpur in the year of 1981 and 1994 respectively. He was awarded with “Lifetime
Achievement Award” for his contribution to structural engineering by the Indian
Concrete Institute (ICI) in 2017.
