NSO Camp Report 2022

Shiv Nadar University, Chennai strives for holistic development of students, giving importance to both academics and co-curricular activities. The National Sports Organisation (NSO) at SNU Chennai trains students in various sports and fitness activities. The University’s NSO unit organized a weeklong camp for student volunteers from 14th October to 20th October. 139 students (108 boys and 31 girls) participated in the activities. Students were trained by professionals in sports of their choice like Basketball, Badminton, Volleyball, Cricket, Table tennis, Squash and so on in every evening. Fitness was given top priority, with intensive fitness training, yoga, aerobics and workouts in the gym every morning. Over the weekend, student volunteers participated in interactive workshops with pioneers from the sports and wellness industry. Dr. KB Srinivasan, a sports physiotherapist from the Tamil Nadu Physical Education and Sports University and ‘Yoga Acharya’ S Ezhilarasi, founder and director of Yogalaya Health Care Institute, shared valuable inputs with the students. The staff from the Department of Sports, SNU Chennai, Harsh Kumar, Sports Secretary of the university, along with a team of coaches, experts, and trainers, facilitated the camp to make it a seamless experience. Credit also to them for inspiring students to give importance and enjoy sports, fitness, and wellness. The students will earn a credit as part of the extra academic activity course and certificates will be handed out for being active members of the NSO.
