An awareness programme on anti-ragging was organized by NSS and YRC units of SNU Chennai to kindle awareness on the legal perspectives of ragging. Shri. E. Edwig, B.Com, M.L Legal Advisor to DGP/HOPF Office of the Director General of Police, Mylapore, Chennai served as the resource person for this programme. The session was conducted to all the first years. Around 70 volunteers from NSS attended this programme. The session was very interactive. The speaker started by explaining the various components of a law as per our country’s judiciary system. He further provided an insight into definition of ragging, the activities that are considered as ragging, punishable ingredients of ragging and the legal support available for protection of the newly joined students.
