Dindigul Mahathi Bags ₹30,000 as First Runner-Up at Invest-o-Spective During IIT Kharagpur’s Global Entrepreneurship Summit
Shiv Nadar University Chennai is delighted to announce the remarkable achievement of Dindigul Mahathi, who secured the First Runner-Up position at Invest-o-Spective, a prestigious event held during IIT Kharagpur’s Global Entrepreneurship Summit. Mahathi’s exceptional performance earned her a cash prize of Rs 30,000, highlighting her strong analytical skills and innovative investment perspectives.
Analyzing IntelliTech’s Proposal
The competition, resembling a “Shark Tank” scenario, involved evaluating investment theses. Mahathi’s case study focused on IntelliTech, a company specializing in predictive analytics software for law enforcement agencies. These solutions aim to predict and prevent criminal activities, assess risks, and support investigations.
Mahathi’s task was to assess the viability of a $25 million investment proposal. She scrutinized that the funds were mainly allocated for:
- Buyout of current private equity stakeholders.
- Product development for the Banking, Financial Services, and Insurance (BFSI) sectors.
- Expanding Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) infrastructure.
- Intensifying marketing and sales efforts.
- Exploring export markets.
- Expanding the team and acquiring talent.
Strategic Analysis and Decision
Mahathi conducted a thorough analysis of IntelliTech’s strategic objectives, market dynamics, and competitive landscape. Despite recognizing IntelliTech’s ambitious plans and potential, she concluded that the company’s focus on multiple expansion areas simultaneously, especially in the initial stages, could dilute their efforts and increase operational risks. She emphasized the importance of prioritizing one core aspect to ensure focused growth and mitigate potential challenges effectively. This unique approach distinguished her analysis and contributed to her success in the competition.
Preparation and Experience
The road to victory was not easy. Mahathi was selected as one of the 30 participants from a pool of approximately 500 applicants. She prepared extensively using online resources and guidance from Dr. Rohit M, Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics. Her dedication and strategic thinking were pivotal in navigating the competition’s challenges.
