Dr. V. Thiyagarajan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at Shiv Nadar University Chennai, with over 16 years of experience in engineering education, research, academic leadership, and student development. He holds a Ph.D. in Power Electronics and an M.E. in Power Systems from the College of Engineering Guindy, Anna University, where he was awarded a Gold Medal for academic excellence. His research interests span Power Electronics, Multilevel Inverters, Power Converters, Renewable Energy Systems, Electric Vehicles, Smart Grids, IoT, and Control Systems. He has established a strong research profile with 16 SCI-indexed journal publications, 33 Scopus-indexed publications, 115 international conference papers, 13 national conference papers, and a CRC Press book titled Modern Power Converters for Renewable Energy Applications. He has also successfully completed several externally funded research and consultancy projects as Principal Investigator. An active research mentor, Dr. Thiyagarajan has guided scholars toward doctoral completion and is currently supervising five Ph.D. candidates. His scholarly contributions have earned over 400 citations and an H-index of 12 on Google Scholar. He has received several Best Paper Awards at international conferences in recognition of the quality and impact of his research.Beyond research, he has played a significant role in strengthening academic and professional communities by organizing 8 international conferences, 4 national conferences, 16 FDPs/STTPs, and 48 workshops, seminars, and webinars. He is a sought-after speaker who has delivered keynote addresses, invited talks, and guest lectures on topics related to power electronics, renewable energy, artificial intelligence applications in power systems, and youth development.Dr. Thiyagarajan actively serves the global research community as a reviewer for numerous reputed journals published by Elsevier, Springer, IEEE, IET, and other leading publishers, including Energy Reports, Heliyon, Results in Engineering, Electric Power Systems Research, ISA Transactions, IEEE JESTPE, Scientific Reports, Measurement, Defence Science Journal, and Discover Electronics. Dr. Thiyagarajan is an active Senior Member of IEEE and a Member of the Institution of Engineers (India) [IEI]. He currently serves as Treasurer of the IEEE Power & Energy Society (PES), Madras Section, for the term 2025–2027. He has also held several institutional leadership roles, including Non-Residential Warden and YRC Programme Officer. His commitment to student welfare and community engagement has been recognized through multiple Best YRC Programme Officer Awards (2022, 2023, 2024, and 2026) and the Best Faculty Award for the academic year 2021–22. Through his contributions to research, professional service, academic administration, and mentorship, Dr. Thiyagarajan continues to advance engineering education and sustainable energy technologies while fostering the next generation of engineers and researchers.
