Dr. T. Micha Premkumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering, SSN School of Engineering, Shiv Nadar University Chennai. Previously, he served in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Sri Sivasubramaniya Nadar College of Engineering (SSNCE) and as an Associate Professor at Hindustan Institute of Technology and Science (HITS), Chennai. He obtained his Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering from the Indian Institute of Technology Madras (IIT Madras) and his M.Tech. in Energy Technology from Pondicherry Engineering College, Puducherry. Before joining academia, he worked as a Senior Project Officer at IIT Madras from 2010 to 2012 and as a Graduate Trainee at the Liquid Propulsion Systems Centre (LPSC), ISRO, Mahendragiri, from 2002 to 2003. He was also awarded the prestigious CSIR Research Associateship during 2010–2012. Dr. Premkumar has more than 14 years of teaching and research experience in the areas of fluid machinery, renewable energy, and computational fluid dynamics. He has actively contributed to curriculum development and academic administration and has played a key role in revising the B.Tech. Mechanical Engineering curriculum. He is currently guiding two Ph.D. scholars, while one Ph.D. scholar has successfully completed the degree under his supervision. He has also supervised more than 30 M.Tech. dissertations and numerous undergraduate research projects. His research interests include turbomachinery, computational fluid dynamics (CFD), fluid mechanics, cavitation, wind energy, tidal energy, small wind turbines, renewable energy systems, and condition monitoring of rotating machinery. His current research focuses on the design and performance enhancement of vertical-axis wind turbines, cavitation phenomena in hydraulic machinery, and intelligent condition monitoring techniques. Dr. Premkumar has published over 80 research papers in reputed international peer-reviewed journals and conference proceedings. According to Google Scholar, his publications have received 881 citations, with an h-index of 17 and an i10-index of 27. His research has gained significant recognition, with 677 citations since 2021, reflecting the growing impact of his recent contributions. He has successfully completed three sponsored research projects, including projects funded by the Ministry of New and Renewable Energy (MNRE) and the Anusandhan National Research Foundation (ANRF). He actively collaborates with academia and industry on research related to sustainable energy technologies and advanced fluid engineering. Dr. Premkumar serves as a reviewer for several leading international journals and has contributed to numerous national and international conferences as a Technical Program Committee (TPC) member, reviewer, session chair, and invited speaker. He is committed to advancing research and innovation in renewable energy, turbomachinery, and sustainable engineering systems.
