Dr. Stefy Carmel is an Assistant Professor of Economics at Shiv Nadar University, Chennai, who joined in March 2026, bringing with her a dynamic blend of teaching, research, and policy-oriented experience. With around three years in academia, including her tenure at the Madras School of Economics and the Centre for Public Finance, she has built a strong foundation in applied economic analysis. She holds a PhD from Pondicherry University, along with advanced training from the University of Hyderabad and Osmania University. Her research has been showcased at national and international conferences and published in reputed peer-reviewed and Scopus-indexed journals, reflecting her active engagement with contemporary economic issues. Beyond the classroom, she has played a key role in training Indian Economic Service officers and contributing to workshops by the Indian Econometric Society, highlighting her commitment to bridging academic rigor with real-world policy applications.
