Dr. Shoubhik Chakraborty is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Computer Science and Engineering at Shiv Nadar University, Chennai. He has completed his B.Tech in Electronics and Communication Engg. From NIT Silchar, M.Tech in Engineering Physics from HBNI Mumbai and PhD from IIT Guwahati in Signal Processing and Machine Learning. Prior to his association with SNU, Chennai, he has worked as Post-doctoral Fellow at IIT Kanpur from 2023-25. He has also served as a Scientific Officer from 2012-16 at Raja Ramanna Centre for Advanced Technology, Indore under the Department of Atomic Energy, Govt. of India.
The primary areas related to his research interest are Digital Signal/ Image Processing, hardware implementation, Biometrics, Machine Learning/ Deep Learning. During his tenure as a Scientific Officer at RRCAT Indore, he had developed a real time hardware model of the Indus-2 RF cavity, which is used in Indus-2 Synchrotron Radiation Source facility to accelerate charged particles at RRCAT Indore for the testing of associated Digital Low-Level RF Control Systems in laboratory. While working as a post-doctoral fellow at RRCAT Indore, he had developed source apportionment models using machine learning techniques for identifying the sources of air pollution. His PhD research work was focused on developing novel machine learning techniques for multi-class data with high intra-class variability and low inter-class separability.
He was a recipient of the prestigious Homi Bhabha Gold Medal for being the topper of BARC Training School Batch at RRCAT Indore in 2011.
