Dr. Sajjan Kumar is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering at the SSN School of Engineering, Shiv Nadar University Chennai. Prior to joining Shiv Nadar University Chennai in July 2026, Dr. Kumar served as an Assistant Professor at SSN College of Engineering, Chennai and other reputed institutions. He has over a decade of experience in teaching and research. He received his Ph.D. in 2021 from Jadavpur University, Kolkata, where his doctoral research focused on the Design Optimization of Distributed Generation Systems using Soft Computing Techniques.
Dr. Kumar’s current research spans smart grids, hybrid renewable energy systems, microgrids, electric vehicle integration, distributed generation, energy management, AI-driven optimization of power systems, IoT and embedded systems for sustainable developments. He is particularly interested in applying machine learning and nature-inspired optimization algorithms to solve complex engineering problems in modern electrical networks. His work aims to improve the reliability, efficiency, and sustainability of future electrical energy systems.
Dr. Kumar has published extensively in internationally reputed SCI-indexed journals and has presented his research work at several reputed international conferences. His research was also featured at the Young Scientist Kolleg (Colloquium) organized by the Humboldt Club Calcutta and sponsored by the Alexander von Humboldt (AvH) Foundation, Germany.
He is a Senior Member of IEEE and a professional member of NFE (National Federation of Engineers for Electrical Safety). Beyond research, Dr. Kumar is actively engaged in academic leadership and professional services. He has organized several international conferences, faculty development programmes, and technical workshops, delivered invited keynote lectures, and contributed to the IEEE community by establishing a Student Branch and serving as its Student Branch Counselor.
