Dr. S. Pravin Kumar has over two decades of experience in Biomedical Engineering, spanning academic teaching, funded research, and industry consultancy. He earned his Ph.D. in Electronics and Communication Engineering at Jawaharlal Nehru Technological University, Hyderabad, with thesis on artificial neural networks (ANN) based epilepsy detection techniques. He has also held a Research Scientist position and Post Doctoral Fellowship at Palacký University, Olomouc, Czech Republic where his research focussed on vocal fold biomechanics and voice-disorder diagnostics. His research spans biomechanics, vocal fold vibration modeling, computer vision, 3D modeling and visualization, augmented and virtual reality, and deep learning applications in healthcare. His contributions have been recognized with the 2020 Elsevier-Journal of Voice Best Paper Award, the Hamdan International Award, and the Elsevier–Sataloff Young Investigator Award from the Voice Foundation, USA, in addition to several SSN Best Teacher Awards.
