Dr. R. Ramaprabha earned her Ph.D. degree from the Faculty of Engineering, Anna University, Chennai, in 2011. In her doctoral research, she worked on maximum energy extraction from solar photovoltaic (PV) arrays under partial shading conditions. During this period, she developed the Solar Energy Research Laboratory, located in the east wing of the Department of EEE, through funded research project (Seed money by SSN Trust). Her research interests also include power electronic interfaces for solar PV systems and control strategies for renewable energy systems. 8 scholars have completed their Ph.D. under her guidance, and she is currently guiding 5 Ph.D. scholars. She is an approved Research Committee Member at Vellore Institute of Technology (VIT), Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute, SRM Institute of Science and Technology, Saveetha Institute of Medical and Technical Sciences, Sathyabama Institute of Science and Technology, and Visvesvaraya Technological University, Karnataka. She is an active reviewer for several reputed international journals, including those published by IEEE, IET, Elsevier, and River Publishers.
She is a Senior Member of IEEE and a Life Member of ISTE. She served as the SSN IEEE Student Branch Counsellor from October 2014 to January 2017. During this period, the branch was recognized with Grade A by the IEEE Madras Section. She was instrumental in securing the IEEE India Council Outstanding Student Branch Award 2015 (First Prize) for the SSN IEEE Student Branch. She has actively contributed to NBA and NIRF activities at the institution. She served as SSN-NIRF Nodal officer from 2024 to 2026. She served at SSN College of Engineering from 2001 to June 2026 and has been serving at Shiv Nadar University Chennai since July 2026.
