B. Tech. in ECE (VLSI Design & Technology)

The B. Tech. in Electronics and Communication Engineering (VLSI Design & Technology) offered by SSN School of Engineering is a comprehensive four-year undergraduate program designed to develop engineers that specialize in VLSI design, semiconductor technology, and embedded systems. The program equips students with both theoretical knowledge and practical expertise, preparing them for careers in core VLSI industries, research organizations, and cutting-edge technology sectors.

Students gain hands-on experience through advanced laboratories and industry-standard software tools, enabling them to design, simulate, and prototype VLSI systems effectively. Teaching and learning are supported by hands-on experience in state-of-the-art labs such as:

  • VLSI and Low Power Computing Systems Lab,
  • IoT System Design Lab, and
  • The RF and Microwave Testing Lab.

These laboratories are equipped with EDA tools such as Synopsys, Cadence, Siemens, Xilinx, Ansys and Keysight, and are supported by an umbrella program, the “Chip-to-Startup (C2S)”, initiated by the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY).

Develop a strong foundation in semiconductor physics, digital/analog circuit design, and VLSI systems.

Enable proficiency in industry-standard tools and hands-on experience in FPGA/ASIC and IoT system design.

Foster innovation, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills applicable to modern electronics and technology challenges.

Prepare students for careers in VLSI design, embedded systems, RF and microwave technologies, and research.

With a curriculum that integrates electronic circuit design, signal processing, communication systems, microprocessors, IoT, and system-on-chip design, graduates emerge as well-rounded professionals, ready to contribute to the rapidly evolving electronics and semiconductor industries.

The curriculum comprises theory and laboratory courses in the following domains:

Semiconductor Physics and Device Modelling, Digital, Analog & Mixed-Signal Circuit Design.

Principles of VLSI Design, Hardware Description Languages, FPGA and ASIC Design & System-on-Chip.

Design for Testability, Simulation and Verification, Semiconductor & Packaging Technology.

Signal Processing, Analog and Digital Communication, Microprocessors, Embedded Systems & IoT.
