1. With SSN / SNUC merger, how do I apply for the courses that were offered by SSN?

All courses that were earlier offered by SSN College of Engineering are now being added to SSN School of Engineering of SNU Chennai. You can apply for these courses through SNU Chennai Admission Application.

2. What will be the Admissions process for the courses that were being offered by SSN?

Admission for all courses will be through the Admissions Process followed by SNU Chennai. You will have to select a Exam Slot for SNU Chennai Entrance Exam SNUCEE and take the Exam.

3. Is there any Counselling as was being done for SSN admissions?

There is no Counselling. Candidates are shortlisted basis SNUCEE and go through a Personal Interview Process.

4. Is Aadhaar mandatory?

For General, NRI, Sports, Extra Curricular & Vidya Gyan Categories, Aadhaar number is mandatory for the application. For PIO/OCI/Foreign National Categories, Passport Number is mandatory.

5. If I apply for B.Tech, do I have to select all branches?

Yes, the applicant must assign a priority number to ALL the 12 programs on offer as a mandatory requirement.

6. My Application shows Duplicate Aadhar No. / Duplicate Passport No. How do I correct it?

You cannot start another application for the same course as the system will reflect “Duplicate Aadhaar No or Duplicate Passport No.”. The original Application started must be completed.

7. My Aadhaar / Passport details are incorrect. Can I edit them?

Aadhar / Passport details cannot be edited after the Application Form has been submitted. Please be very careful when entering your Aadhar Number.

8. I am appearing for Class 12 exams. What should I choose?

Select ‘Result Awaited’ in your application.

9. Is 10th “pass-only” eligibility allowed (like 2021 batch without exams)?

The system will allow only students who have completed 10th Standard by 2023 or 2024 and Aggregate Marks for 10th Standard Board Marks must be filled up. Minimum 60% marks in 10th Standard is mandatory.

10. Can I change my application details later?

Editing of important fields is not allowed once application is submitted. Other fields can be corrected / edited.

11. Can I change branch preferences?

1. When will Applications / SNUCEE 2026 exam dates be released?

It will be on 15th January 2026. Exam dates can be found in the application form filling.

2. How many attempts can I give for SNUCEE?

Only one attempt per program is allowed.

3. What is the SNUCEE exam pattern?

SNUCEE has two parts: Aptitude Test (45 mins) and Subject Test (75 mins). It is MCQ (Multiple Choice Questions) with one correct answer. There is negative marking for all incorrect answers.

4. When can I book the exam slot and is there a time limit?

After filling up the Application Form & uploading all Documents, you will be asked to book the SNUCEE Slot. You must pay the Application Fee within 15 minutes of Slot Bookings as otherwise the Slot will be cancelled.

5. When will I receive my hall ticket?

Hall ticket with Exam Centre Address will be available for download on your dashboard minimum 72 hours before the SNUCEE date.

6. Can I show my Hall Ticket on my phone at the exam center?

No. Applicants will be required to take a printout (HARD COPY) and carry it to the Exam Centre. Soft copies on mobile phones will not be accepted.

1. Does SNU accept SAT?

No. SAT scores are not accepted by SNU Chennai.

2. I am applying only through the JEE track. Do I still need to book a SNUCEE slot?

Yes. All Applicants, including candidates who wish to be considered only basis their JEE Mains Score, MUST book a SNUCEE Slot & Pay the Application Fee.

3. What is the minimum JEE percentile for consideration?

Students with 90 percentile or above may be considered for shortlist for interviews. Very, Very few seats are allocated for JEE based admissions.

4. Will I have the opportunity to upload JEE Main scores later?

Yes, you will be able to update your JEE Mains score once results are declared for same.

1. When will interview Call be sent after SNUCEE exams?

Shortlisting for Interview is normally done after every 2-3 SNUCEE Phases.

2. What is evaluated during the interview?

For Interview Basis SNUCEE: Communication skills, basic subject understanding and clarity of thought is tested. For Interview Basis JEE Mains Score: Subject Matter knowledge is tested in depth.

3. How is branch allocation done?

Allocation is basis applicants’ preference and applicants rank in the ranking list.

4. Are board marks considered in final selection?

Yes, board marks play a role, along with Entrance + Interview.

1. Can I apply under General Quota but write exam abroad?

Yes, by paying Application Fee meant for Dubai Exam Centre.

2. What should NRI applicants upload in addition to the regular documents?

Letter from Consulate or NRI Work Permit or NRI Resident Card and a Sponsor Letter from NRI Parent.

3. Is Sponsorship Letter mandatory for NRI & PIO/OCI/Foreign National category?

YES, it is mandatory from the NRI or PIO/OCI/Foreign National Parent.

1. Is there an annual increase in the fees?

University Fees are subject to an annual increase of up to 5%.

2. What is SNU Chennai’s Fee Refund Policy?

As per prevailing UGC guidelines. Refunds will be made ONLY to the accounts from which the Fee payments were received.

3. What are the scholarships offered?

Four types: Merit, Merit-cum-Means, Sports, and Walk-in-Walk-out. Scholarship Applications are invited after classes commence.

4. Can I choose my roommate?

No

5. Is it mandatory to use the University's transport or hostel?

Yes. Selecting either Hostel or Transport option & paying the applicable Fee is mandatory.

6. What are the Hostel Fee and Transport Fee at SNU Chennai?

7. Who must attend the Orientation?

Presence of the student for the Orientation Program is mandatory. SNUC will be very happy to host ONE (1) parent only, along with the student for the Orientation Program

8. When does the academic year begin?

B Com & B Sc – Economics: Mid-July 2026. B Tech & Law – Mid August 2026.
