Dr. Kala Vijayakumar is the Pro Chancellor of Shiv Nadar University Chennai. and President, SSN Institutions. 

She has played a key role in managing the SSN Institutions in Chennai, from its inception in 1996. With a keen interest in inclusive education, she has played a significant role in making SSN an institution of international repute. Under her leadership, SSN has focused on promoting the holistic development of its students and she was instrumental in setting up a special scholarship scheme for the benefit of students from rural backgrounds at SSN. She also played a pivotal role in establishing unique collaborations with world-renowned universities such as Carnegie Mellon University, USA, a global top 10 engineering institution.

Kala secured a university rank in her master’s degree in Mathematics from Stella Maris College, Madras University. Her doctorate in Education from the University of Liverpool focused on bridging the economic inequality in India by making higher education accessible to rural, first-generation learners.
