Dr A. K. Lakshminarayanan is an Associate Professor in the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Shiv Nadar University, Chennai. He is an internationally recognised researcher in welding engineering, metal additive manufacturing, advanced manufacturing, and materials processing, with over 19 years of teaching and research experience. His research has made significant contributions to Wire Arc Additive Manufacturing (WAAM), Twin-Wire WAAM, welding metallurgy, friction stir processing, and welding automation. He has published 106 peer-reviewed journal papers, received 2,388+ citations with an H-index of 24, and secured over ₹2.3 crore in competitive research funding from ESAB, DRDO, DST-SERB, and SSN Trust. Dr Lakshminarayanan has been recognised as one of the Stanford–Elsevier World’s Top 2% Scientists for five consecutive years (2020–2024). He has established advanced manufacturing research laboratories, actively collaborates with leading international universities and industries, and continues to drive innovation in sustainable manufacturing, intelligent welding systems, and metal additive manufacturing.
