Shiv Nadar University Students Shine in Samsung's 'Solve for Tomorrow' Contest
In a remarkable feat, a team of students from Shiv Nadar University, named “TouchPad,” has made it to the top 10 teams nationwide in the prestigious Samsung ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ contest. The team, consists of AI – DS students Malathi M. C Ganesh Ram and Vishwa Kumaresh.
The team was under the guidance and mentorship of Mr. Shanmugakumar, an IoT professor at Shiv Nadar University. Under his tutelage, the team honed their skills, developed a revolutionary idea, and crafted a compelling pitch that caught the attention of the esteemed judging panel in Delhi.
The ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ contest is an esteemed platform that encourages students to use their problem-solving skills and innovative thinking to address real-world issues. This year, the TouchPad team proposed a novel idea: the development of a reading device for the visually impaired
To further refine and execute their vision, the team was mentored by Samsung employee and IIT Delhi. Their two-month mentorship journey culminated in the creation of a prototype that holds great promise for the visually impaired community. The team also received valuable sessions on entrepreneurship and Design Thinking from FITT, Delhi (Foundation for Innovation and Technology Transfer).
The grand finale of the Samsung ‘Solve for Tomorrow’ contest was an event of national importance. It was a moment of pride for the university and the team as they were selected to present their innovative project in front of a prestigious judging panel.
The team’s dedication, hard work, and innovative thinking were duly recognized and rewarded. They received Samsung Galaxy Flip 5 phones and a cash prize of 1 lakh, making the occasion even more memorable. These prizes were presented to the team by Managing Directors Of Samsung Centres in India.
In addition to these accolades, TouchPad’s journey was also given nationwide recognition as they were featured on national television. Their achievements demonstrate the excellence and innovative spirit fostered at Shiv Nadar University.
