Bio

Ms Rejitha Nair has a decade-long experience working with Universities and grassroots organisations. Before joining Shiv Nadar University Chennai, she worked with Nirma University Ahmedabad and DY Patil University Navi Mumbai. She has held many critical academic and administrative positions at these Institutions; she was in charge of the School of law at DY Patil University and was the Head of the Centre for International Humanitarian Law and Human rights and at Nirma University. She has also held consultative positions with numerous Civil Society Organizations and Research Networks. Currently, she is a consultant with Aga Khan Rural Support Programme (India), where she is instrumental in designing & facilitating a course on ‘Women and Land Rights’ for grassroots-level and mid-managerial level employees of Civil Society Organisations. She is also a Master Trainer of Paralegals with the Centre for Social Justice Ahmedabad with whom has conducted numerous training programmes for paralegals and assisted in designing courses and training manuals.

Her interest lies in understanding the relationship between legal institutions and poverty- focusing on social welfare policies, Land Rights and e-Governance. She has chaired conferences and delivered expert lectures at prestigious institutions in India and abroad. She has authored articles on the digital welfare state, Universal Basic Income, e-governance and Land grabbing. She has organised numerous Conferences, Seminars, and Training programs in collaboration with National and International organisations like ICRC, UNHCR, SAILS Bangladesh, All India Radio and Gujarat State Women Commission, to name a few. She has also received scholarships and grants, to present her research and attend workshops, from Harvard Law School, Massachusetts; University of St Gallen, Switzerland; Institute of New Economic Thinking, New York; International Institute of Humanitarian Law, Sanremo; International Committee of the Red Cross South Asian Delegation, South Asian Institute of Legal Studies, Bangladesh & National Human Rights Commission, New Delhi

She holds a Master’s degree from NALSAR University of Law Hyderabad and is a recipient of the prestigious Nani Palkhivala Memorial Gold Medal in Comparative Constitutional Law.
