The tricolour was then hoisted by the Vice-Chancellor. The assembled community marked their respect to the national flag with the national salute and sang the national anthem. In his Independence Day address, the Vice-Chancellor Prof Bhattacharyya exhorted the audience to be proud of their Indian heritage and to be good citizens and make India better in all counts using the knowledge and experience that the University education gives them. After the VC’s address, a few patriotic songs were sang during which the volunteers went around and distributed sweets to all those who came to celebrate the Independence Day. The Students’ Activity Coordinator Dr. P. Venugopal thanked everyone in his Vote of Thanks address and the event came to an end by 9:30 am.
