Dr. Surya Nath Maiti joined SNU Chennai as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Economics, School of Science and Humanities on 4th September 2023. He has over 7 years of experience in academics.

He has completed his Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Scottish Church College, University of Calcutta, Master’s in Economics from Banaras Hindu University and PhD from Indian Institute of Technology Kanpur.

Prior to his association with SNU Chennai, he has served as an Assistant Professor in BIT Mesra. He was associated earlier with IIT Gandhinagar as a post-doctoral fellow.

He has presented several research papers in National and International Conferences such as Annual Conference on Economic Growth and Development (ISI Delhi), Winter School (Delhi School of Economics) and Development Economics Conference (Lincoln International Business School, University of Lincoln, UK) & published articles in reputed Journals like Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization, Social Indicators Research and Journal of Demographic Economics.
