The Youth Red Cross (YRC) Unit of SNU Chennai in association with Environmentalist Foundation of India (EFI) and Swachh Bharat Clean India Mission, organized a “Beach Cleaning” at Kovalam Beach, ECR on Sunday, March 20, 2022. Actor and model Ganesh Venkatram was the special volunteer at the event. Removing trash from beaches will not just ensure a beautiful coastline but help maintain a healthy marine ecosystem.Around 40 active YRC Volunteers of the University engaged in cleaning and collecting the garbage of the Beach side. Besides, they also interacted with visitors and public requesting to maintain cleanliness and avoid use of plastic items which was the major source of the waste collected. The YRC Zonal Coordinator Dr. V. Vembarasan and YRC Programme Officer Dr. N. Azhaguraja was also accompanied in organizing this activity.
